Privacy policy
Plain English, no small print. This page explains what Aristotl.es collects, why, where it is kept and how to have it removed.
Who we are
Aristotl.es is run by Pierre C., who organises the weekly public speaking meetup in Madrid and offers 1-to-1 coaching. For anything about your data, write to hello@aristotl.es.
What we collect, and why
| Where | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Speaker test | Your answers, your result, and the name, email and phone number you enter to see it | To show and send you your result and, if you ticked the box, to contact you about it and about the programme |
| Live feedback at the meetup | The scores and comments you give a speaker. They are anonymous: your phone gets a random ID, never your name | To build each speaker's feedback card |
| Speaker passport | The first name you choose, optionally your test profile, and the speeches you add to it, with their feedback and self-ratings | To show your progress over time and anonymous comparisons with groups of at least 3 people |
| Speech videos | A video of your speech, only if you agreed to be filmed that evening | To let you rewatch your speech next to your feedback |
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell or share your data with anyone for marketing. Your phone may store small preferences locally (for example the link to your passport) so you don't have to re-enter them.
Videos
Videos are filmed only for speakers who said yes before their speech. They are uploaded to the Aristotl.es YouTube channel as unlisted: they don't appear in search or on the channel page, and only people with the link can watch them. The link appears on your feedback card and in your passport. You can ask us to delete a video at any time.
Where your data is kept
- Cloudflare stores the meetup tools' data (feedback, passports, timers) in a database restricted to the European Union.
- Supabase stores the speaker test results and contact details.
- YouTube (Google) hosts the unlisted speech videos.
- GitHub Pages hosts the website, and pages load fonts from Google Fonts. Like any website host, these services can see technical data such as your IP address when you visit.
The site's access to YouTube is limited to uploading videos and reading the channel name, under Google's API Services User Data Policy. It cannot read or change anything else in a Google account.
How long we keep it
Feedback, passports and videos are kept while the meetup runs, so that you can follow your progress, unless you ask us to delete them earlier. Test results and contact details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or withdraw your consent (including to filming) at any time. Write to hello@aristotl.es and tell us your first name and, if you have one, your passport link. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority (AEPD).
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
